Repeat prescriptions
How to request a repeat prescription for your ongoing treatment.
As a private clinic, we provide private prescriptions for patients when necessary who are actively under our care and having regular follow-ups with us.
Private prescriptions are different from NHS prescriptions — you pay the cost of the medication plus a pharmacy mark-up and dispensing fee. Each pharmacy will charge a different mark-up and we cannot advise you on this. We will typically provide an initial prescription that will last until the planned review date.
Getting a repeat prescription
Before prescribing a repeat prescription, we will first need to have an initial appointment with you to assess your condition. We will then outline treatment plans for you, which may include a repeat prescription.
If you have a chronic condition that is going to require ongoing treatment, we can share your patient letter with the GP practice to facilitate getting repeat prescriptions from your GP as an NHS item.
Who can use this service?
To be eligible for a repeat prescription, you must be an existing patient of ours. This means that you must have had at least one appointment with us.
Most patients taking medication will require a review in clinic every 3–6 months. Some patients will only need to see us once a year. Our normal practice is to provide enough medication at the time of the clinic appointment to last until we see you next.
You must also check in with us once every 12 months to continue your repeat prescription. This is to ensure patient safety and follows GMC guidance on safe prescribing.
Repeat prescription fees
We charge a fee of £25 when a private prescription is requested outside of regular clinic appointments. We normally use an online pharmacy that will deliver directly to you. Please note that medication deliveries often need to be signed for.
To request a repeat prescription
Email us at secretary@expertsinskinandhair.co.uk or call 01273 077222, stating the medication name, dose, and quantity required.
Please include your full name, date of birth, and the name of your consultant when making your request.
We aim to process repeat prescription requests within 2–3 working days. Your prescription will be sent to our online pharmacy which will then deliver directly to you.
